Day 10: Prawn crisps and whipped coffee
My husband and I have a new tradition of having a cocktail while watching “Jeopardy” every evening at 7pm like we’re 85 years old. (No shade to 85-year-olds; your lifestyle is enviable and I will feel lucky if I make it there for real.) We are both fortunate to be able to work from home and it’s been a useful way to demarcate the work day from the rest of the evening.
Today I’d like to ask: What new food or drink habits have you developed during quarantine? Hit reply or email me at hi@lauraolin.com.
Here’s what other people have been saying re: snacks and beverages:
Sam G.:
Well today we had a shopping delivery - like golddust here in the UK. Best bit about it was that I had accidentally over ordered on the crisps (chips) and so was able to deliver a 24 pack to my friend who is self isolating as she has cancer. Her whole family are in isolation and not able to give her a hug. And she was so excited by prawn cocktail crisps!
Geoffrey G.:
Whipped coffee! Just enough of a project to take your mind off things.
Sarah E.:
Today is the day they have chosen to start the school-at-home here in Littleton. I am playing the part of bar keep, slicing limes to be ready for our cocktail hour which will likely start before 2pm today. Not 100% true, although I thankfully do have a lime in the fridge. The last hour I have been rotating between my 3 kiddos making sure they are actually doing what they are supposed to be doing (or at least pretending to), while I am once again avoiding the work I should be doing for my job. I'll get to it after they are in bed, I think (for three days running now). Ahhhhh, is it time for a beverage?
It is always time for a beverage during a pandemic.
